# Xiphoid Process

The xiphoid process is the small, cartilaginous extension at the lower end of the sternum (breastbone). It is a critical landmark in CPR for locating the correct hand position for chest compressions.

**What is Xiphoid Process?**

## Importance in CPR

1. Hand Placement: In CPR, the heel of the hand should be placed on the lower half of the sternum, avoiding the xiphoid process to prevent injury.
2. Landmark: Helps identify the proper area for performing chest compressions effectively and safely.
